A multinational oil company holds its AGM
(Annual General Meeting) at a well known London venue. The AGM is a key event
in the company's calendar and is the one occasion for shareholders to vote on
resolutions and submit questions to their Board of Directors.
The event is also a major opportunity for
protestors, environmentalists and other pressure groups to disrupt proceedings
and gain media coverage for their cause. The costs involved in planning and
running the AGM are significant and it is therefore essential that such groups
should not be allowed to disturb or undermine the event.
The security guard force, close protection
officers, rapid deployment team and intelligence services provided by
Amicus:Mentor ensure low-profile and seamless security screen that protects not
only the proceedings of the AGM but more critically, the personal security of
shareholders and high-profile company officials who attend.
Such security arrangements are critical
to the success of an AGM and without which the company would be unable to
conduct its AGM with confidence.

A wealthy businessman was attempting to
retrieve monies owed him as a result of loans made against cattle stations in
the Northern Territory of Australia. The local court appointed a receiver who
was instructed to inform the owners that the sale of properties would commence
to recover monies owed.
The court appointed receiver was threatened and
intimidated on two occasions as his team attempted to visit the locations and
serve documentation.
Following advice, a team of 16 security
officers were flown in and deployed at three cattle stations covering an area
of approximately 10,000 acres. Their task was to protect the newly appointed
receiver and his team, thereby enabling them to conduct a muster of cattle and
other assets for sale.
The station owners had a propensity for
violence. With the assistance of the police, 18 assorted firearms which
included assault rifles, pump action shotguns and a variety of high powered
handguns, were confiscated.
The deployment of the team ensured the
protection of the receiver and his team and allowed the lender to retrieve his
money without further molestation, violence or a protracted court
battle.
